Add Up takes the form of a pyramid of numbers with the simple premise that each number is the sum of the two numbers below it. We give the solver some starter numbers from which they must deduce the other numbers in the pyramid, in order to calculate the number that sits at the very top.

Add Up can be adapted to suit different ages. For children, we might use smaller pyramids or smaller numbers, or give all the base numbers (those at the bottom of the pyramid) as starters.

Harder versions might involve larger pyramids or larger numbers. We might also give numbers from higher up the pyramid as starters – so that the solver will have to work backwards in order to calculate the numbers in lower tiers.
